MEASUREMENTS AND ADJUSTMENT

OBJECTIVES

  • Be able to measure (sliding calliper, micrometre calliper, etc.)
  • Be able to perform machining operations using a sensitive drill press, in compliance with a definition drawing

SYLLABUS

• 1 – Metrology (theory)
– Be able to measure to one fiftieth of a millimetre with a sliding calliper
– Be able to use various measuring instruments, either sliding or others (micrometre calliper, depth calliper, dial gauge indicator, etc.) and check their conformity (calibration)
• 2 – Machining
– Know the various machines and tools for drilling of metals
– Know the process and parameters for the machining operations to be carried out (tool to be used, rotational speed, etc.)
– Study of assembly and design drawings of the part to be made
– Know the safety instructions to be applied when using drilling machines
– Practical application
– Inspection of the workstation (inventory)
– Be able to trace a part in accordance with the design drawing (surface table, surface gauge, etc.)
– Be able to select the tool to be used (check with sliding calliper)
– Reminder of safety instructions
– Perform the various drilling and boring operations
– Check the machining operations carried out
– Cleaning and tidying up of the workstation (inventory)
